Australian Fashion Week bans models…

April 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Australian Fashion Week organiser IMG Fashion Asia Pacific has agreed to ban models that are under…the age of 16, after a controversial publicity image was released of 14 year-old Polish IMG model Monika Jagaciak, who was pictured posing under a shower in a swimsuit. The age ban also saw Vogue Australia editor Kirstie Clements cancelling a planned cover shoot with Jagaciak, Clements allegedly faced a tough time from the Family Council of Victoria, after featuring a 15-year-old model on the magazine’s August cover.

Last week, the French fashion Industry signed a contract to help fight anorexia among models in magazine advertisements and catwalks. The anti-anorexia drive was led by Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot who is passionate about ending the display of ultra-skinny models.
